A-6E Intruders of VMA(AW)-224 Operation Desert Storm
Desert Storm marked the last combat tour of Marine Corps operated
Intruders after a long and successful career. First seeing action
with the Marines over the skies of Vietnam, the Intruder was a
Marine grunts best friend and the enemy's worst nightmare.
Two squadrons, operating a total of 20 A-6E's flew combat missions
during ODS from Sheik Isa Air Base in Bahrain (a small island
country in the southern section of the Persian Gulf).
This sheet covers 4 aircraft from one of those squadrons,
VMA(AW)-224, the Bengals.
Landing gear, ejection seat stencils, chaff/flare buckets (with
optional loads) and serial numbers with data placards for 4 MER
(Multiple Ejector Racks) per aircraft are also included.
Research by Dave Roof using personal photos and notes of each
aircraft taken during Desert Storm.
